Happy 80th Birthday to Gloria Alday!

Dear Friends, This week, longtime Republican activist and community leader Gloria Alday is celebrating her 80th birthday. A former Houston County Chairman, 1st District Chairman, 8th District Chairman, and 2nd Vice Chairman, Gloria is undoubtedly one of the Georgia Republican Party’s most accomplished and active members. She chaired the Bush 2000 and McCain-Palin campaigns in Houston County, served as a delegate to the 2000 Republican National Convention, and still – after 18 years – sits on the State Committee. Gloria’s service extends beyond the Republican Party. She is a former Commissioner in Houston County, serves on numerous local committees, and assists countless organizations with fundraising and awareness. Despite her many accomplishments and accolades, Gloria continues to find new ways to move our Party, state, and country forward. Like C.S. Lewis famously penned, “You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.” Gloria is an inspiration to us all and I hope you will join me in thanking her for her service and wishing her a very, Happy Birthday! Sincerely, John John Padgett Chairman Georgia Republican Party

October 7th Senate Debate

We’re planning for our next debate on Tuesday, October 7th at the National Fairgrounds in Perry (Houston County). This isn’t just a normal televised debate – instead it takes place in an arena with thousands of people watching in-person. It’s the equivalent of a “political circus” and an experience of a lifetime that you don’t want to miss. To put it bluntly – this is the most important event of the election for our campaign. The unions are planning to bus hundreds of members down to help the Nunn campaign. We need your help to combat the unions.
I need you to commit to attending the debate on October 7th and to bring 10 of your friends, family or neighbors with you to support David.
It is critical. If you’re able to make this commitment, please let me know ASAP. You’ll be deemed a Perdue debate captain and given additional instructions. We need more than 1500 people on the ground supporting David (holding signs, chanting, wearing shirts, passing out materials, etc). Even if you can’t commit to bringing 10 friends, I still need you to attend and bring anyone you can. So let me know if you can make it and how many people you think you can bring. Plan to be in Perry by 3:00pm for our Team Perdue organizational meeting. PLEASE RESPOND to carmen.foskey@gagop.org to confirm.
We will have buses from Atlanta, Athens, Augusta, Columbus and Savannah (and potentially more), and the details will be finalized next week. We’ll also work with debate captains once identified to set up regional car pools. If you’re not ready to commit to being a captain, but want to ride down on one of the buses, please let me know in your response.
Additional information will be sent out next week. This is an event that we can’t afford to have our supporters miss. Please make any arrangements you can to attend.
Let me know if you have any questions or need anything from the campaign.
